Creative thinkers respond to everything they take in – and that can lead them in some unexpected directions. So how do you create a disciplined portfolio presentation that doesn’t limit their movement? Or their imagination? That was our challenge in creating a site for photographer David Graham White.
David is both a commercial photographer, supporting a host of leading corporate organizations with his distinctive imagery, and an artist, using the camera as a tool for advancing his thoughts and ideas. The ideal portfolio would reflect these two, often disparate, aspects of his work with a single, cohesive framework.
For David’s commercial work, we designed and engineered a spacious environment with a simple navigational construct – an environment that compliments and supports his imagery but never overpowers. Here, our primary goal was to facilitate ease of update. Employing a unique display engine, the site supports the photographer with an economical and responsive mechanism to ensure content remains current and vital.
David’s more diversified approach to his personal work required an open architecture to afford him greater control over display format and the ability to supplement imagery with text. We managed each new installation as a separate project, responding to David’s functional and editorial requirements while ensuring continuity with the site as a whole. |
